British Gas has today announced that it will scrap plans to charge customers £5 for late payments of bills. The company's new Managing Director, who took over the post on the first of March, made the decision after listening to customers feed back. British Gas estimates that late payments cost the company £20 million pounds, which it has to pass on to their customers. So this is good news for those who are a bit lax with their bill payments, but not great news for those who pay on time. Still with price drops happening left right and centre, there has never been a better time to switch energy providers.
