Our Review

Orange have just entered the broadband market expanding out of their traditional market of mobile phones by buying Wanadoo. So far their offering has been very impressive indeed. They have managed to bring their highly impressive customer service in the mobile world over the broadband and our experiences so far have been very good.

They either offer free broadband with a mobile contract or a paid for option starting at £14.99.

On their starter pack priced at £14.99, the first three months are half price. They also offer a 30 day money back guarantee and a monthly download limit of 2 GB which 90% of the UK public use less than.

Orange also offer two larger packages, their broadband plus package priced at £19.99 a month has unlimited downloads and includes all calls to UK landlines starting with 01 or 02 and their livebox modem which allows for wireless connection and cheap international calls over the internet.

*Speeds in excess of 2 meg are only available in certain areas. Top speeds vary significantly, particularly according to how far away you live from the exchange. If your line won't support our fastest broadband speed we'll give you the best available. The speed you actually get can also vary depending on the quality of your line, the wiring in your house, the time of day and even the weather.

in the name of sanity do not sign up with the free broadband offer, you will be met with slow speed, crashes, 'maintenance' disconnections and every excuse known to mankind as to why your service is so appalling, customer service lines are manned by operators who are programmed to say 'ring back in 24 hours' in a moronic tone. i am buying a bottle of champagne to celebrate the end of my mobile contract so that i can get a proper isp. believe me, i am a normal person, DO NOT SIGN UP UP TO THIS PATHETIC EXCUSE FOR A B/BAND PROVIDER!! if you do you will reget it.

I have been with orange for 3 monnths now and have phoned them around 6 different times about the very slow speed .They keep telling me they need to do line tests and I need to do spped tests and phone back in 24 hrs nothing improves and I have had enough now, but am stuck in a 2 year contract and don't know how to get out of it .They do nothing but mess me around and they don't care as long as they are getting my money.

Orange must be one of the worst broadband providers around , connection keeps dropping and ,technical support tell lies its their problem and they won't admit it .Why mess customers around. CJ

Wanadoo were one of the best ISP's around - before Orange took them over and destroyed all the good work they had done. Constant crashes, disconnections, the wireless modem was a joke. Worst of all was the customer service - it took me 3 attempts to get a MAC code. AVOID!!
*****  Review by John Darling - 12 March 2007
Fully endorse all previous reviews - and after years with FS then wanadoo have found Orange deplorable. Fault with livebox reported and despite promises to make a call back (within 2-3hrs??) Zilch. Google search on this product(?) will convince. After a year can take no more!! Always On - except when it chooses to disconnect and recent weekends cannot even connect much of time or so slow it's almost like dial up. If u like being ignored then sign up!!

Orange are quite happy to let you have no internet for weeks if not months as long as your paying for it.Customer sevice is a disgrace .When they suggest you need a line check it's time to get out and change to another provider,as your in for a long haul and a huge phone bill.
*****  Review by Tom Hulse - 8 February 2007
When I signed up with the then Wanadoo I was impressed with the level of customer service. Since the Orange takeover the customer service levels have crashed. Just like the internet service which seems to be off as much as on. In the last 10 months I have been without the internet for around 12 weeks for various reasons and when it works its hardly faser then dial up even though I am paying for up to 8meg. They have over stretched. Avoid!
*****  Review by Eric - 1 January 2007
In December 2006, I decided to change to broadband. Having been with Freeserve and sticking with them when they changed to Orange, I thought it would be straight forward. I ordered on 7/12/06 and after being given 4 different review dates for my connection, the last being 11/01/07, I decided to cancel my order. The package seemed great, but the poor service, excuses and expense to myself was not acceptable. I cancelled my order. Orange you let me down and your service and customer reps were extremely poor. Obviously customer loyalty count for nothing. My advice - look elsewhere.

Our Conclusion:

Orange have shaken up the broadband market with their free offers something that you really can't argue with.

not only on rice but also customer service we at broadbandreview.org.uk highly recommend Orange for both broadband and mobile phones.
